Working on shapes and colors

I found this toy at Value Village and I'm really glad I did, because my girls love it and it works very well both to develop their fine motor skills and to work on shapes and colors.
But I also tried another technique: my kids and I chose some pictures from old magazines and glued them on paper shapes. These shapes cards can be used for matching games as well as guessing games: for instance, you can turn them upside down and ask the child to guess where a certain picture is. Every time he/she tries one card, he/she has to say the name of the shape. You can also simply lay them on the table, picture side down, and ask: "What is there under the pentagon?"
